Welcome
As a singer, songwriter, poet, and visual artist, the fruit I harvest is born from the creative urgency to find answers to questions that occupy much space in my mind.
About Sloan Hampton
Processing their undergraduate graduation and the anxieties attached to their impending law school tenure, Sloan Hampton sat on their bathroom floor and poured their thoughts into the void of his mobile notes app—cluttered with to-do lists and discarded class notes.
Inspired by the prose of Nikki Giovanni and Langston Hughes, the language of Toni Morrison and James Baldwin, and the sound of Brandy, James Fauntleroy, and Daughter, Sloan Hampton began laying the foundation for an artistic endeavor that would fuel them for the years to come.
Hailing from Greensboro, North Carolina, the singer-songwriter uses their music to explore love, grief, time, and self-actualization. Their catalog—products of procrastination (2020), …so stuck (2021), love letters (2023), and Being Soft Is Hard to Do (2024)—traverses R&B and alternative genres while showcasing their soothing vocal tone, heart-wrenching lyrics, and honest vulnerability.
